"The New Kids On The Block" A new race team emerges on the H1 Unlimited Scene
Scott Raney, twenty-two year veteran of Unlimited Hydroplane Racing, recently announced that he has formed his own H1 Unlimited Race team. Raney, along with his wife Shannon and driver JW Myers, will own the U-11 Unlimited Racing Group (URG) and plan to be competitive from the outset. With guidance from Dave Bender, a former champion boat racer and President of a large international aerospace & defense electronics company, URG has assembled an experienced team, located a state of the art facility and finalized the acquisition of a competitive boat for the upcoming season. URG has already had success in gaining the support of some key sponsors in the form of Peters & May as title sponsor, the United States Marine Corps, West Coast Collision Center, Primus International, Meydenbauer Bay Yacht Club and Renton Coil Spring as supporting sponsors. priority press release

H1 Unlimited Annual Meetings & Awards Banquet is history
February 25-26 Palms Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas
The Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, sponsors of the H1 Unlimited Fast Lap Award for three seasons, was the the site of the annual H1 meetings and banquet February 25 & 26. This year's meetings and banquet promised to be some of the most dynamic and interesting ever, with emphasis on marketing and the future. Attendees heard from guest speakers and were a part of several seminars held. Expectations were high to hear more details and developments on the H1 Rule Changes, sponsor agreements, new race sites, team news, and the outlook for 2011. The first of the news is out from the H1 Meetings - AirGuard has been announced as the 2011 H1 Unlimited Series Sponsor ! Friday's meetings consisted of seminar's on sponsorship, the internet, social media, and ways for the sport to work together to increase awareness & fan involvement. Steve Montgomery-H1 Marketing, Edward Muncey-Marketing Director of the UFC, & Capt Rondal Perry of the AirGuard / Air National Guard took part in these presentations.
Saturday started with Safety Standards presented by Doug Ford & Mike Noonan, followed by Marketing & Sponsorship Packaging by Anne Hansen of Bulldawg Marketing. Race site representatives met, and the H1 Unlimited Board of Directors followed with their own meeting. The 2011 H1 Unlimited Rulebook has been published with some major changes. The awards banquet and dinner was held Sat. evening and was to feature a "State of the Sport" address from H1 Chairman Sam Cole. Along with the AirGuard series sponsorship announcement made earlier, Saturday evening brought news that a deal was in the works for national TV coverage of all the races on the VERSUS Network, live streaming on Fri-Sun of each event by Tampa Digital, and the partnership with Bulldawg Marketing to promote and develop the sport of H1 Unlimited. 2010 awards were handed out after the "State of the Sport" address. More details in future issues of the UNJ.
